PHPLinkBid.info Directory - A Bad Idea?

Well as many of you know I use a script called PHPLinkBid which is available at www.PHPLinkBid.com and enables you to run a really smooth link bidding directory and earn money off of your domain names and directories in a unique way.

I purchased the script with the idea of building one large directory and a couple of niche directories and focusing on my main directory (www.iLinkMarket.com) which is doing very well.

Well about a month or so ago I was on the phplinkbid community forums and saw a post about a member of the community (this is the same member I blogged about here using Googles name and logo illegally).

The member is either over creative or a marketing misfit that comes up with the most reckless and failure prone link bid site themes and ideas I have ever seen. His latest attempt to make a successful link bid directory seems to have failed along with many others like his ”Parity of the original Google Directory.”

His new idea is one that has not received any positive feedback in the directory owner community and has not received any real advertising action. This time his idea was simple, take the popular phplinkbid name and profit from it. So, he creates PHPLINKBID.INFO (I refuse to link to it).  This new “directory” not only uses the PHPLINKBID.com name and product name (phplinkbid) it uses the same colors, logo, look and feel of the phplinkbid original sites.

In my opinion this “webmaster” can not come up with his own ideas to really promote and build a good link bid directory, so he uses and copies other over successful sites like Google and PHPLinkBid to try and lure in potential advertisers. When I see a site like his/this I would never advertise on it as I think it would make me look bad, nor would I take a first or second look at people advertising on his copycat brainless directories.

This guy also spits out a new directory every week almost and announces them on phplinkbid forums. Here is a thread on the forum talking about his newest flop. Visit the Forum

Note: The site builder “webmaster” of phplinkbid.info apparently did get permission from phplinkbid.com and the owner to use this name and layout. In my opinion he should have never asked and never done it. It is in bad taste. He should ask the community what they think before starting any more directories to see if others have an opinion on the matter.

I normally don’t take the time to blog about other peoples BAD ideas on my other blogs I run, but this one I had to mention.
